The two main routes east
I-40 runs along the south side of Yukon and is the fastest path to downtown OKC, Will Rogers World Airport, and points east. NW Expressway (SH-3) is the northern alternative and is often the better choice if you work near Lake Hefner, Warr Acres, or the northwest medical corridor.
Charlemagne Apartments sits near the Garth Brooks Blvd corridor, so you can be on either route within a few minutes.
Typical drive times from Yukon
- Downtown OKC / Bricktown: roughly 20-30 minutes
- Will Rogers World Airport: roughly 20-25 minutes
- OU Health Sciences Center: roughly 25-30 minutes
- Tinker Air Force Base: roughly 30-40 minutes depending on gate
- Mustang: about 10-15 minutes
- El Reno: about 15-20 minutes
Times shift with construction and weather; treat these as planning numbers, not guarantees.
Beating rush hour
Eastbound I-40 is heaviest roughly 7:15-8:30am, and westbound backs up 4:30-6:00pm. Shifting your start time by twenty minutes in either direction usually saves more time than switching routes.
Winter ice is the real variable in Oklahoma. Overpasses on I-40 freeze first — on icy mornings, surface streets through town are often the safer call.
Why the location matters when you pick an apartment
Two apartments in the same town can differ by ten minutes of commute simply because of where they sit relative to the on-ramps. Before you sign anywhere, drive from the property to your workplace at the hour you'd actually be driving it.
